U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) is slated to be at a Wednesday rally in Detroit to support security officers trying to unionize.
Officers have walked off the job to protest low pay. The SEIU Local 1 event for the One Detroit Security Campaign is at Hart Plaza.* Harris is scheduled to be there at 12:45 p.m. Several Democratic presidential hopefuls, including U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), have expressed their support for the workers.
Harris also is one of 10 presidential candidates confirmed for a national NAACP forum Wednesday morning at Cobo Hall in Detroit.
